As Halloween is a celebration for death and darkness (see Why not Halloween?), Harvest Carnival is a celebration of LIFE found in Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that God sent Jesus into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him! “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Life in paradise with God for ever and ever is our reward for trusting Jesus as our Savior. But why do we need a savior? What are we being saved from?

The Bible says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) and that the “wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This thing called sin — the things we do wrong, those things that don't meet God's standards — is what separates us from God today. [1]

But the good news is that God has provided a solution to our very serious problem of sin. How was this accomplished? By Jesus dying on a cross and raising from the dead on the third day. [2] He took the punishment of our sins — death — so that we could have life! “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us ... that we should live together with Him” (1 Thess. 5:9-10).

Jesus Himself said “I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24).

If you have never placed your faith in Jesus, why not do so today? Simply ask Him to be your Savior and Lord, and thank Him for paying for your sins by dying on the cross. He will come into your life and change you [3], and give you His perfect peace. [4] And then you will truly be able to celebrate life.
